The Morton family of Colchester, Essex

On 31 October 1856 Mary Nevard Morton married August Decker, a soldier of the British German Legion. She was 13 years old at the time, and two of her sisters married German soldiers on the same day. Emma Morton married George David Julius Casdorff (also spelt Castorff and Castorf) and Elizabeth Mount Morton (the eldest sister) married Johann Wilhelm Hoffman.

For more on the descendants of Mary Nevard Morton and August Decker, see the Decker Family, and links from there.

The parents of these Morton girls were George Morton and Elizabeth Nevard. George Morton was the son of George and Alice Morton, and the whole family seem to have been gardeners in Colchester, Essex, running nurseries.
